Now Viewing: contra_iii_the_alien_warsTag type: Copyright The third Contra video game. It is the sequel to Super Contra and is also known as Contra Spirits. It is designed by Nakazato Nobuya with music composed by Hagashino Miki, Adachi Masanori and Iwase Tappy. It was released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo. Like the other games in the series, it is widely considered to be extremely difficult. It made use of the SNES's Mode 7 graphics mode, which was used to design the game's two top down levels in a game that is otherwise a side scroller. It also started a series trend of featuring vehicular chase levels and levels involving a large amount of missiles. Both of these trends originated in Stage 4 of this game which starts with a motorcycle chase/gun battle and climaxes with the player characters taking on the stage's boss hundreds of the feet in the sky while jumping from missile to missile to avoid getting killed.
