Now Viewing: brian_ironsTag type: Character The police chief of the Raccoon City Police Department. He is a fat older man with a mustache. He is a minor character who appears in Resident_Evil_2 and its remake, and Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles. He is a highly corrupt man who has been taking bribes from the Umbrella Corporation. He is also an extremely sadistic man of questionable sanity. He has a fetish for taxidermy, and is perfectly willing to have a young woman become his 'trophy.' Even before he was a police chief, he had already demonstrated his psychotic nature; when he was a university student, he was convicted of two cases of rape, but he received little punishment due to circumstantial evidence and his academic achievements. This backstory is not shown within the game itself but is detailed in files within the games. The zombie outbreak in Raccoon City made his already malevolent personality much worse as Irons, fearing that he has been infected by the T Virus, devolves into paranoia. He is also a collector of art and he uses the bribes he gets from Umbrella, particularly William Birkin, to fill the Raccoon City Police Department with statues and other fine art. He is also responsible for the convoluted and puzzle filled design of the department and has the station built in such a way to hide his many dark secrets. Claire Redfield stumbles upon his dark secret but Irons in unable to do anything to remove her because Irons had previously been infected by the mutated Birkin with the G-virus, leading to Irons suffering a gruesome demise. While Irons is killed off in all paths of Resident Evil 2, the way he meets his end changes depending on which character the player picks first. Darkside Chronicles also has Irons be killed by the G-virus creating a monster that rips itself out of Irons' body though it also slightly changes the story by having Leon and Sherry present for both the revelations of Irons' true nature and his gory death. The Darkside Chronicles version of his death is less graphic than the original's with it being depicted through shadows as opposed to being shown explicitly. In the Resident Evil 2 prototype Resident Evil 1.5, Irons was depicted as a good guy with none of the aforementioned traits. He is voiced by Gary Krawford (RE2), J.B. Blanc (DC), and Sid Carton (RE2 Remake). In Japanese, he's voiced by Hirose_Akio.
