The female equivalent of the teen delinquent banchou is called sukeban. Banchous are often portrayed as rough fighters with strong loyalty to their gangs and are in control of their schools. One common portrayal of banchous is depicting them as wearing tattered long coats (old fashioned Japanese school uniforms) complete with a hat.
