She wears a red school uniform and her hair is styled as 6 tubular ringlets. Unlike most Street Fighter fighters she actually debuted in Nakahira Masahiro's 1996 Street Fighter-based manga, Sakura Ganbaru!, as a classmate and rival of Kasugano Sakura. She became phenomenally popular and became a playable fighter in Street Fighter Zero 3. Karin is the only daughter of the Kanzuki family and has a very haughty attitude, often referring to people as commoners. She enrolls in Sakura's school in order to observe the commoners. Nevertheless, she is a highly skilled fighter and earned her skills by passing through numerous highly difficult trials in order to inherit the Kanzuki Estate. She is also prone to doing noblewoman's laugh. Although she is very proud, she is kinder than she initially seems. She became Sakura's rival after being defeated by Sakura. From that point on, she became obsessed with defeating Sakura in order to honor her family's motto "Be the winner at everything." She ultimately accomplishes this goal and becomes good friends with Sakura. She also sponsors female wrestler Rainbow Mika. In spite of her popularity, she was absent from the main franchise for over a decade, although she appeared in the crossover Namco x Capcom, until the release of Street Fighter V. By the time of Street Fighter V, she has grown up and is now in charge of the Kanzuki Estate. She is also much more prominent in the game's story than she was in her previous appearances and is responsible for bringing the heroes together to fight against Vega. She also chooses to take Birdie under her wing after he defects from Shadaloo. She is voiced by Yamada_Miho (Street Fighter Zero 3, Namco x Capcom) and Endou_Aya (Street Fighter V).
