Now Viewing: dead_or_alive_4Tag type: Copyright Tag refers to images referencing this specific Dead or Alive game. It is the final fighting game entry in the series to be directed by series creator Itagaki Tomonobu as well as the last Dead or Alive game to use licensed Aerosmith music. It is also the last game to feature character specific endings instead of one single story mode like Dead or Alive Dimensions and Dead or Alive 5. The game expands on the series' use of the environment in combat by including moving objects that can hurt the fighters. For example, one stage is set in the middle of a city street where cars are driving. Usually, the cars will swerve once they get close to a character, but if they are too close, the car will crash into the character causing damage. Players can deliberately knock their opponent into the path of the oncoming car as well. The game introduces Kokoro and Eliot into the series and marks the fighting debut of Lisa Hamilton. This game is also the first entry in the series to include guest characters. The game includes Nicole, a female SPARTAN from the Halo universe, as a playable fighter. She is also incidentally the only female character who is not used for fan service and her armor completely obscures her face. Dead or Alive Dimensions establishes Helena's story path and ending as the main canon story path of the game although parts of the other characters' stories are considered canon like Kasumi battling Alpha-152 and Ayane, Hayate, and Ryu's endings. This game was featured at EVO 2006. It is so far the only Dead or Alive game to be featured at the EVO tournament.
