Now Viewing: h&k_psg1Tag type: General A semi-automatic sniper rifle developed by Heckler & Koch since 1972, based on their G3 battle rifle. The rifle was developed in the wake of the 1972 Summer Olympics massacre, where a Palestinian terrorist group took eleven Israeli athletes hostage and all of them were killed. To prevent an incident like this happening again, the West German police needed an accurate semi-auto sniper rifle. Two rifles were put up for use by the police, the other being the Walther WA2000. The WA2000 was too expensive to make, meaning the PSG1 was adopted. It is also the rifle used in Metal Gear Solid where Snake takes down Sniper Wolf.
