There are two areas where animal ears are usually placed. On top of the head and on the sides of the head (where a human's ears would be). The first type is much easier to accessorise with fake_animal_ears but is anatomically incorrect. The inverse is true for the second type. The first type is most likely to have extra_ears. For the second type, "extra ears" usually means a redundant accessory.
