Now Viewing: negligeeTag type: General A negligee (from the French négligéé, lit. "neglected") is a type of lingerie. It is a see-through, flowing nightgown, most often long and with sleeves. Negligees often have lace-trimming, bows and several layers of fabric. They originated in France in the 18th-century, but did not achieve their current form and erotic status until the end of World_War_II. From < en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negligee > Compare to other types of loose-fitting, lingerie gowns: babydoll and chemise. "The chemise is the only one that is fitted at the waist. The babydoll is usually shorter than the negligee and is generally sold as a set with a matching panty. The negligee is usually the longer of the three and more often has sleeves."
