It is a real robot action anime OVA that ran from May 11, 1991 to September 24, 1992. As the title suggests, it is an interquel set in the UC timeline, specifically UC 83, which is between the original Gundam and Zeta Gundam. The OVA notably had quite a few crew changes over its run. It was originally directed by Kase Mitsuko for the first seven episodes before she was replaced by Imanishi Takashi, who took over for the rest of the OVA and directed the compilation movie. It was written by Gobu Fuyunori for the first 4 episodes, Endo Akinori (5-7), Takahashi Ryousuke (8-10), and Ookuma Asahide for the remaining episodes. The characters were designed by Kawamoto_Toshihiro. The soundtrack was composed by Haga Mitsuo. The mechas were designed by Katoki_Hajime, Akitaka_Mika and Ishizu_Yasushi. It was adapted into a manga titled Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Rebellion in 2013, which was written by Imanishi and drawn by Natsumoto_Masato. After Zeon's fall at the end of the original Mobile_Suit_Gundam, the galaxy seems to finally be at peace. Kou_Uraki is a rookie test pilot working for the Federation. He spends his days training with his best friend Chuck_Keith at Torrington Base under the tutelage of South_Burning. Things are so peaceful that even the security at the area is becoming lax. However, the peace is violently broken when remnants of Zeon, known as the Delaz Fleet, infiltrate Torrington to get their hands on a new Gundam there, the Gundam GP-02A "Physalis" (Gundam_GP-02_physalis), which has the ability to utilize nuclear weaponry. To make things worse, Delaz has the infamous Zeon ace, Anavel_Gato, in their ranks, and he successfully steals the GP-02A from Torrington. Kou, feeling responsible for Gato's escape, steps up to join a mobile suit team assigned to chase after Gato and retrieve the GP-02A despite his lack of experience. With the help of Nina_Purpleton, the systems engineer who oversaw the GP-02A's production, his mobile suit team members and his mentor, Kou boards the other Gundam super prototype GP-01 (Gundam_GP-01_Zephyranthes) and races against time to stop Delaz from using GP-02A's nuclear firepower to start another war.
