She is a Vocaloid developed with the Vocaloid 2 software and debuted on June 2009. Her voice samples are provided by, and she is named after, voice actress/singer Nakajima_Megumi. Her appearance was designed by Yuuki_Masami. She also resembles Nakajima's most well known character Ranka Lee from Macross Frontier though it has not been confirmed as to whether or not Ranka was the basis for Gumi's appearance.
