Now Viewing: blake_belladonnaTag type: Character A mysterious dark haired cat like teen girl with yellow eyes and an animal ear-esque bow on her head. She is one of the main characters of RWBY and is part of Ruby Rose's team. She is a calm, quiet, and aloof girl who prefers to spend her time reading books. She often comes across as difficult to talk to but Ruby manages to connect with her over a shared love of books. Over the course of training, Blake warms up to Ruby and Yang and is willing to participate in their mischievous activities. In combat, she is like a ninja and is highly acrobatic. She is also the most willing to use stealth tactics out of her team. She uses Gambol Shroud, a unique katana with a gun attached to it. It can also be turned into a deadly yo-yo like weapon and the gun boosts the speed of her attacks. She is also an actual cat girl in that she has genuine cat ears underneath her bow. She is a member of the oppressed half-human/half-beast minority group, the Faunus, and, for the majority of her life, was a member, of the notorious Faunus terrorist group White Fang. She left the group because she felt that their actions were becoming too extreme and difficult to justify morally. After cutting off ties to the group, she joined Beacon Academy disguising herself as a human unlike fellow Faunus Velvet. When Ozpin questions her decision to hide her Faunus identity, she states that she wants people to judge her for who she is, not what species she is. However, she remains a strong supporter of Faunus rights. Her theme song is From Shadows, which is performed by both Casey Lee Williams and Jeff Williams. It is the only song that has male vocals and the lyrics reflect the feelings of both Blake and Adam, who has a prominent role in the Black Trailer, as well as the feelings of the White Fang in general. She is voiced by Arryn Zech and is the first of the main characters to be voiced as the Black Trailer was the first time voice acting was featured in the series. Arryn has also commented that Blake is radically different from her own outgoing personality so she does a few tricks to help her get into character as the introverted, stoic, and mysterious Blake. When recording, she turns out the lights in the room, wears dark clothing and a hoodie, and makes herself seem smaller. The creators of the series have commented that they found Blake to be the most difficult character to write. The original version of the trailer and the DVD version are slightly different. In the DVD version, the last portion of the song From Shadows is removed, leaving the last few moments of the trailer without background music. There is also a very faint sinister laugh that can be heard between the trailer's end and the appearance of the RWBY title card. An alternate white costume for Blake that first appears in episode 3 of the second season was based off of Girls Generation member Yuri's outfit in the music video for The Boys.
