Their first original production was Weiss_Kreuz_Gluhen in 2002. The studio is presided by Kondo Hikaru. During their first few years, they were known for their habit of including a cute claymation sequences in their work, usually at the ending animation. Their first major success was their 2007 adaptation of Kara_no_Kyoukai. The success of this film series and the distinctive visual techniques it employed led to ufotable gaining a new popular image. The films notably used a digital compositing style that became the standard for subsequent ufotable anime with visuals that mix 2d animation with 3d CG. This is most prominently featured in their action sequences with camera work that follows the characters as they race around the battlefield and employing lots of visual effects to convey the characters' super powers. The studio has its own digital team overseen by Terao Yuichi that allows its animators to pull off said effects. After Kara no Kyoukai, the studio would become most famous for their adaptations of Nasuverse works and accordingly, they began more frequently adapting action-oriented works.
