The company actually started as a magazine about video games in the 1980s, which is the reason for its name. Said magazine and the company was created by Tajiri Satoshi and Sugimori_Ken. The two men, along with Masuda Junichi, created the iconic multimedia franchise Pokemon, which rivals the Super Mario Bros. series in terms of financial success. Although the company is part of Nintendo, Nintendo only publishes the Pokemon games and most of the work is actually done by Game Freak.
