You wouldn't jump in the lava. With the bubble, you'd exit the level, and have to go back the beginning/flag. With the lava, you'd lose a life too.

I remember when playing with my friends, all four of us accidentally jumped inside our bubbles at the same time. It was hilarious because we were near the end of the stage.
