Not really. Raindrops, while plentiful, still don't land in every possible spot, and the smaller the opening (and the more vertical it is), the less likely it is to enter. And given that the ears would largely plug the holes, water infiltration would be minimal.
On top of that, water is more likely to either bead down the hood and around the holes or be absorbed, depending on the material used.
