Ah, Gamma Ray. Such a useful Overdrive, despite requiring a full Tension Gauge. Massive damage and heavy repercussions for attempting to block it. A little difficult to pull off for a novice, but well worth it. On GGX, it has a maximum of 38 hits. I believe a similar figure is possible in later installments, but I've found it difficult to reach that height on GGXX: AC. I know I at least got 37.
