The whole battle was honestly pretty awesome, even if Misty and Brock returning was purely for fanservice. The battle also had me wondering if Gyrados could actually learn Hurricane or not (wouldn't be the first time they've had a Pokemon use a move in the anime it isn't able to use in the games). Given it's lore, though, and it makes a lot of sense for it to be able to learn it, even if nobody would seriously consider actually teaching it that move in the games.

@anon4: That was kinda my point, anyways. But hell, I've seen people stupid enough to suggest even MORE brain-dead move options for certain Pokemon, anyways. In fact, a friend of mine was stupid enough to keep Aqua Jet on his Primarina, of all possible things. Just saying.
