Sometimes Samus just takes a break between games. 8 years between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, now 10 years between Metroid Prime 3 and Return of Samus.
She's a bit like Captain Falcon in Smash that way: sometimes it can take a while for them to show up but they always deliver.

^ Considering development times, the newly announced games were fully in the making when FedFor released; big mistake was to not begin their development sooner, as Samus Returns looks much better and, even if it doesn't turn out exceptional, would have still been much better for the 30th anniversary of the franchise.

Don't pat Nintendo on the head just yet. Wait until the games release and see if they're actually worth anything beyond just being an overly reactive fanboy to congratulate them.
I still don't believe Sakamoto won't try to ruin these in some way.

I love this announcement so much, but I have to come back to earth and be more critical since Sakamoto nearly destroyed Samus's reputation from flops such as Other M and Federation force (to be honest Other M was not that bad, but still) and is nervous since retro studios is no longer working on the game.

Also for the 3ds Metroid, while still happy, but still unsure about it because of Nintendo aggressively taken down the fan project AM2R last year very harshly since everyone wanted a new Metroid game for the franchise's 30th anniversary to which they completely ignored and favored for Mario and Zelda more.

"Other M was not that bad"
Other M was absolute fucking trash. Are you also lenient on shit like Sonic 2006, Mega Man X3, X6 and X7?
