Low-res pixel art has low detail, you you can fill in more with your mind.

The fact that it's pixel art lets you blow it up to a larger size without it looking like there's a bunch of empty space; every pixel is completely filled with color.

This lets you keep a low detail level without distracting the viewer with how low the level of detail is (up to a point).

Of course, that all only goes for people who can stomach low-res pixel art in the first place. Some people just don't like it.

I think in addition to the low-res being more suggestive, many people associate pixel art with classic games, the vast majority of which were not sexual or even suggestive, and putting sex where it's not normally is kinky.
