Twitter also lowers the quality of images to reduce file sizes. Pixiv does not.

If you copy and paste the direct Twitter image link into your browser window, then type ":orig" at the end, you'll get the image in its original size and resolution. ex: whateverwhatever.png:orig . That's how you can get around Twitter's shenanigans. It can be a little tedious if you're saving a ton of pictures, but if it's only a few it only takes a few seconds.
