Lamia are not cold-blooded. They have to be warm-blooded for the human half to function. Also they do need a human male to continue their line. And being warm-blooded the child is carried like a human's, though gestation is of lesser time.

Actually, Lamia are Poikilotherms which is something you can look up on Wikipedia if you want to know what that means.
Warm-blooded and Cold-blooded are general terms used to teach children basics when scientifically there are actually 14 different forms of thermoregulation rather than just 2.
