It's a thing at weddings, at least in the USA, where the bride's garter is taken off and thrown to the unmarried males like the bouquet is thrown to the unmarried females. In some of the weirder examples of this, not saying it's whats happening here, the groom goes under the dress and pulls it off with his teeth.
