it's funny, the stories were better when he was younger. Seems like he somehow managed to get worse the longer he was at it.

The Zabuza Arc was amazing. Sakura was crying with a dead Sasuke in her arms. Naruto was getting ready to kill someone, accepting that ninjas were hired killers and not heroes. The reality of ninja life had hit the group square in the face.

Then Zabuza did the most amazing thing that anyone has ever done in the show- rush a group of armed thugs with a knife in his mouth since his arms were useless and manage to kill the crime boss with a last ditch effort. That was amazing since he didn't just use magic plot abilities that Kishimoto pulled out of nowhere but only his determination in the face of overwhelming odds. He had redeemed himself after a life of crime and it was a beautiful way to go out, next to the body of his loyal follower.

And then shit happened.
