Oh man, face it, before the whole apocalypse, Hirano was a sad sack, and for sure Saya wouldn't even give him a second glance if she didn't depend on him for survival, and Saeko in the background was trying her damnest to keep her sanity under check before her eventual psychotic breakdown...
