It's not a natural position the same way that turning your head at a 90 degree angle isn't a natural position. Sure, you can do it, but it's not the most comfortable way to do things. That makes it look abnormal since it's not something people normally do.

I always do this too.
You really need not stretch or be fit for it at all, it's almost one of the most comfortable position when you lean on something.
