^ It's called "shipping".

Every series has fans who prefer some pairings over others, canon (like the marriage of which you speak) or not (like plausible pairings that could work, or outright crack pairings).

People without preferences (like myself) are comparatively quite rare, from what I've seen.

As long as shippers aren't attacking me for not shipping anyone/trying to force a pairing down my throat, I don't really care that much about who they ship, as long as I'm not part of it, but I can't say the same for too many people.

Kariya might be crazy, but I wouldn't call him yandere. It doesn't quite fit. It's pretty close at times, though.

And weird shipping pairs are awesome. Even the crack ones.
