ash is a humanoid type pokemon bio-engineered by professor Oak and Giovanni in an attempt to gather information on science experiments that were accidentally released into the wild and began mutating. ei mew-two, ditto, etc etc. the reason he doesnt age is because he was designed to be a single evolution type pokemon whose main instinct is to improve his standing in the social hierarchy via combat and information gathering. much like any other pokemon who's been noted to be several hundred years of age the traits of aging as we understand them arent present. one day ash will simply lie down and pass away

Ash doesn't age because he is a cartoon character. He is the same as Bart Simpson, Detective Conan and many others.
