hey so previous squad 13 lieutenant(don't remember who) is a captain now then? it doesn't even seem like ukitake had a vice-captain. i remember he had 2 shinigami who always tried to one up each other following him around in the early seasons though. one was the 4th squad Lt's sister.

As far as i know after the death of the previous Lieutenant of Squad 13 (Kaien Shiba) died Squad 13 was without an official Lieutenant. Instead two 3rd Seats took over the role. The two you were talking about (one being Kiyone Kotetsu, Isane Kotetsu's younger sister). However, Rukia has since become Lieutenant so what happened to the 3rd Seats I have no idea.

I believe they are still both in office. After all, Ukitake is very sick, so he needs a lot of help. And we don't want poor Rukia to be pilled up in paperwork.
