Let me explain: The girl AND the visible ghost are the same person - a half-baked half-human/half-ghost hybrid named Youmu Konpaku.

The shadow is that of her master, Yuyuko Saigyouji - the ghost princess of the underworld that lies beneath Gensoukyo.
