vtubers are socially inept, and full of cringe,no matter who and which agency they're signed to........I'd stick to genuine flesh and bones...or humans as it's called, and being physical idols makes them feel extra real on all fronts, thank you very much.
edit: except Tails (and all the Sonic characters)..he's got his own show at the official Sonic the Hedgehog youtube channel...and he's got none of the cringe all vtubers are subjected to..

I'm not gonna lie, the main reason why I don't even bother with Vtubers is that they aren't real.
I would feel a lot less weirded out by the concept if the Vtubers were actual Japanese cute Idol girls cosplaying as their own characters.

Damn, I was thinking of making a vtuber thread some time, but I guess I held it off too long... and turns out it was probably better I didn't, lol.
I just want to point out: vtubers are real people. They're just like people wearing a mask or talking through a puppet. They're as real as Kermit or Miss Piggy, maybe more because most vtubers don't pretend to be their character, just talk through their characters honestly with their own voice.
I guess there's still too much misinfo or wrong assumptions about vtubers out there.
Yes, they are real people, but it seems that nearly all of the appeal comes from the animated waifu "puppet" or "mask".
It seems extra artificial in the sense that people are watching for the animated waifu puppet, and probably less for the real person. Most Vtubers don't even show their face or their body.
I'm just not a fan of it. Feels a little too weird. And then the more obsessive parts of the fandom make me cringe my balls off.
A puppet or mask are just inanimate objects unless there's life put into them. What they say and how they say it is a massive aspect of the appeal of vtubers, and those voices arent fake in most instances and the words at least always come from a real human beings, as of yet I've never heard of a vtuber with total AI speech. In most cases, watching vtubers is just like watching a youtuber, but way more deep into Japanese culture. Back in 2020 when I first heard of vtubing I thought the same that it was just more waifu idol trash or something like idolmaster, but it's become among my favourite hobbies/interest and my main source of humor and entertainment and it's even helped me learn more Japanese.
The real honest truth is that vtubers are just comedians. XD (no matter what anyone, including them, says)
