So I just got reminded of Gelbooru's big dumb rule that denied "oppai loli" it's own tag. The tag would be removed everytime you added it, and you had to search "loli + huge_breasts", which was a huge problem because it would often give you resulst of a regular (flat) loli and an adult woman with huge tits. Around 2022 the rule was lifted, and oppai lolis finally became recognized as a proper tag.

Does anyone remember why this rule had lasted for such a long time?

I mean I'm glad they've uplifted the rule, but I'm not really sure why such a fuckin' dumb decision was upheld for so long in the first place........

Because breast size is a spectrum and breast size tags are already somewhat vague, so in turn what is and isn't "oppai loli" is subjective as a result

like to some people oppai loli would be a loli character with anything more than small_breasts even if they're still proportional, because normal is none at all

Yeah that's kinda the problem. Another issue is that "oppai loli" is itself undefined in Japan, as some characters we would consider just regular shortstacks (such as Ilulu from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid) are given that title.

Now there are examples that clearly fit under the "oppai loli" label and most people should see no issues with them: Kaedeko's "brat with big boobs" Sasaki Kanna is a premier oppai loli.

But outside of very obvious and clear examples like this, it's a sticky term to use.

But I'd think you know an oppai loli when you see one? I don't count lolis with barely developed breasts (and still look like fucking children through and through) as "oppai loli"

All of the currently tagged oppai loli posts are pretty clear enough... so why was it treated as it was super murky?
