Hair style matters more to me than hair colour, but I do find myself especially liking black, red, and blonde when it comes to real women. As for characters... yeah anything goes, even blue or white. But for sure, hair can be very important for whither someone looks sexy or not.

Hair color in general for characters, always biased towards green hair. It may be because of Yae from Legend of the Mystical Ninja Goemon

For me I think blonde hair is the best because I'm drawn more to it and a lot of character I like have blonde hair.
Examples would be Tsunade, Cynthia, Lusamine, and many of Princess Zelda's designs.

for some reason I don't know why but so many of my favorite chicks have purple hair. Faye Valentine, Motoko Kusanagi, Yoruichi Shihouin, Misato Katsuragi, Saeko Busujima, Hitagi Senjougahara, Shantae, Revy has purple hue in her hair. I swear I don't even plan this stuff. It just so happens the hottest anime women tend to have purple hair

Generally speaking I have huge thing for red hair. Erza Scarlet, Wendy Corduroy, Mitsuru Kirijo, Ariel, Yoko Littner, Kallen Stadtfeld, Kushina Uzumaki, Jessica Rabbit, Frankie Foster. I don't know if Asuka Langley counts, sometimes her hair looks red other times orange so honorable mention. Red heads just get me rock hard especially if they have freckles

This is a weird one for me, since in real life I prefer black or very dark brown, but in anime, I would rate red above these. The reason probably is that in real life you cannot find these very deep (post #11903325) or very bright, sometimes almost magenta-ish(post #11902730, post #11902503) hair colors, naturally. My affection for the deep browns is probably the real life approximation of these colors.
Also, interestingly, while the red-brown shade in the first picture is a very common hair tint color in my country for women, I'm not happy about it, because I hate artificially colored hair with a passion, even if it's a color I'd like. Natural over artificial all the way, even if it's not my exact preference.

As bauls said, freckles are a plus, and I would count the orange-ish version of Asuka also a redhead, on the anime scale. She does it for me, at least. :P
Also, weirdly enough, I think that particular orange is actually closer to a real-life readhead's color.

Huge tits look great in any hsir color.
