Weird tag behavior?!
Posted on: 04/23/16 04:09PM

If I search for: catgirl
I get one picture of Felicia from darkstalkers. The tag indicates there are supposed to be 521 images tagged catgirl. Same with "butterflies" (4 images out of 585 tagged).
Am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding how things work? :)

Catgirl is not a valid tag. The number by the tag shows deleted posts too so ignore that.

If you want to see catgirls then search "cat_ears" or "cat_tail" etc.

Edit: Oh, and butterflies should be "butterfly".

yeah, I dont get that. Why isn't "cat_girl" or "neko_mimi" a valid tag? Why can you not search for animal girls and instead have to search for (animal) + (ears)? That doesn't seem to make much sense. I mean, those are Real tags, genres, fetish, etc., so why not allow them to be tags when that's what they are recognized and know as? It's like not allowing 'bondage" as a tag and instead making people search "rope".

Also, isn't cat ear and cat tail having their own separate tag kind of redundant when its kinda very uncommon to find Only one (ears, or Tail) and not the other. And then there's the fact that some animal girls aren't primarily liked or recognized by their ears or tail. I can understand being specific, but why not allow the general terms of kitsunemimi or bunny_girl?
It really is just weird to me. Is it like a beastiality issue with the tag or something??? o_o

Gelbooru imports images and tags from danbooru. So you'd have to change how danbooru does things first. Also, the more tags, the more server load.

The tags are pretty straightforward. "Neko" (猫) means cat and "mimi" (耳) means ears, so the tag is "cat_ears"; "kitsune" (狐) means fox, so it would be "fox_ears". Every type of animal ears should be included in the "animal_ears" tag and every type of tail should be included in the "tail" tag. The general tags, such as "bunny_girl", tend to be for outfits rather than having a tag for each set of animal characteristics.
