She is a cheerful and friendly girl who is friends with the other main characters of Yuru-yuri. She is initially presented as the protagonist of the series and in the anime features prominently in the opening. Unfortunately for her, her friends eventually note in a meta conversation that Akari is rather forgettable. Akari becomes the unluckiest character in the series after the conversation starts a running joke in the series where Akari ends up being pushed into the background, forgotten about by the others, and often becoming invisible because she lacks the presence the other characters have. Akari desperately tries to stand out, with little success. Her older sister Akane is obsessed with her, but Akari is oblivious to how deep Akane's obsession goes and views her as an affectionate older sister. She is voiced by Mikami_Shiori.
