I've been devolping the opinion that once the original creators of an IP no longer use it, it is for practical intents and porposes public domain. I don't care about copyright when it's just horded in 5 different megacorm vaults with thousands of others IPs they do jack'all with. Crossovers with every live service under the sun and licencing merch till the garbage dump is all its used for now, if the Execs even remember it exist; they only care if some rando has fun with it and gets a little atention, then they go "How dare you use the likeness of the thing we didn't make but bought at a yard sale cause we though we could pawn it off to a sucker latter and forgot we just dumped in a junk closet!" Its a very entitled attitude that is very distainfull of art.
The best thing about art -good, bad, or medeocer- is how it inspires other people to take some of the ideas presented and take their own swing at it. Nearly all artists are inspired by a aclectic assortment of art they encountered and life experience. RWBY at the start inspired more then I think it ever delivered on, and that is fine to. Most creative works are like that. It dosn't need to be great if it inspiers more art to follow. So to the burn pits with IP hording for generations and content slop.
P.S. Gen AI is just Probability Model Pixel Association and can never be more then content slop that is vomited out
