a sad ending? naw, they wouldnt do that. i could see a bittersweet endings though. the point though of the series is that nothing can kill guts. it always has been, that somehow entire armies and demons and magic beings and ect cannot somehow beat this guy who is just really good at swinging his huge ass sword. if anything, we're just waiting for casca to be returned to her normal self, then she'll have magic or some mystical weapons/armor.

It's impossible to have a normal life after all that, which brings the fact that Guts might turn into a monster, or die.
