Russia lost in 1905 though, they also claimed to be able to conquer all of Finland but only got Karelia, Finland has like 2% of the population Russia has, thats like a fight between NJ vs the whole East Coast.
And theres Ukraine, the 72h in Kyiv "special operation" that turned into a 12 month attrition war, with 150k dead Russians and 200k maimed, not in some history book, literally in 2022.

Russia's behavior lately is certainly proof of the saying "Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it".
Especially when it was revealed they planned on picking a fight with Japan, before settling on going after Ukraine.
