This could have been avoided if Ace wasn't a dumbass because Akainu essentially was name-calling. And if ACE HAD ESCAPED ALONG WITH LUFFY, THE REST OF THE ENTIRE ARC WOULD NOT HAVE ENDED DIFFERENTLY. Teach would have still acquired the Gura Gura no Mi and I'm damn sure that Rayleigh would have still convinced Luffy to undertake the training timeskip anyways, since he was basically dead weight from Impel Down onwards.
The Whitebeard War would have been twice as awesome and not nearly as pointless if Ace had lived.

Yes Ace shouldn't have fall for akainu provocation but think about it...the story would have been too predictable.....also Oda was able to shock us all by killing a main character which can be rare and plus its give a frightning twist.
