There's a translation request, but what you're seeing on the board is a way to tally in Japanese. Each line in the character on the board is equal to one (just like when you do |||| and strike through all four for '5', you draw each line in that character to count).

So left to right you'd have, 13, 9, 16, ..., etc.

The X's and Y's I'm not too sure about.
