Being 10 years old did little, if anything, to make the female protagonists of the Pokémon any less popular as Rule-34 fodder and that's just one example, so I wouldn't say it's that. It's that, for whatever reason, Kingdom Hearts draws a lot of yaoi lovers and not as many people who are into the girls. I can't say why, I guess it just happened that way.
