I'm still taken aback by Sony essentially becoming an American company, moving operations to California, demanding majority correspondence be conducted in English.
Dragon's Dogma 2 launched with a bunch of surprise microtransactions. You need to pay money to if you want to make a new character, fast travel, to access basic colors, if you want a new save file, etc.
People are rightfully trashing the game. It's disgusting that a $70 single player game still somehow has microtransactions.

And now I have no interest in buying the game.
Dragon's Dogma 1 had Rift Crystal microtransactions, but at least they were an easily acquired currency in-game (through exploring or pawn hires). Locking Portcrystals and Character Editing behind microtransactions, however, is something else. Making it such a chore to create a new savegame is the mouldy cherry on top.
But there were enough bad omens in the months leading up to its release anyway, so I almost feel sorry for everyone who pre-ordered or bought it on release, as a portion of them feel compelled to defend Capcom just to justify their ill-fated purchase.
Hee-Ho said: Franchise's going to shit. Gameplay behind paywalls. Microtranslations/lootboxes/gacha games. Walking simulators and visual novels. Anti-modding/fanworks. Anti-consumerism. Getting into something where they don't belong to. (Sony's politics). Piracy is getting normalized. Developers getting insuferable. Gaming "Journalists" is more pathetic as ever. Fanboys are a complete joke.
It's rotting itself to the point when we get another video game crash? No matter how much you say it won't happen or which country is better at games.
I can forsee the coming crash as the last one. Gaming may recover, but it's never getting big again thanks to the corruption unfolding right now
From what I understand with DD2 is that the fundamentally game itself is good. It's just the mtx and performance issues. There's at least clear solutions for those.
Apparently the MTX in Dragon's Dogma 2 isn't so bad, as some people are saying that all of the MTX can be earned in game pretty easily with 2 hours of play.
Still though, even if it's true, MTX still shouldn't be present in a single player game.
But I guess this is a situation where you'd have to do research instead of simply listening to what others say.
