Actually, Metroids are distant relatives of Samus, seeing as they were both "created" by the Chozo. This could actually happen.

Anon #5, Samus was raised by the Chozo, not essentially created. The Metroids were made to combat the X-Parasites, while Samus was simply found and raised by them. On the other hand, she does share their DNA since she was injected with the Metroid Vaccine, giving her Metroid DNA.
