Ron is Jealous, disloyal though strong.
He does not protect her from bullies; he in fact bullied her to begin with. Protection he takes care of herself and in some cases Harry gets her out of a bind above her level.
He does not respect her superior intelligence; he fears it, and by default her.

Well garsdal, no one ever accused Rowling of good character development for the light side. If she had made the effort, Neville and Luna would have been more fleshed out, we'd have been able to understand 1) why Harry went from badass to sissy between books 5 and 6, 2) just what the hell Hermione sees in Ron, 3) just why in the hell Harry started to notice Ginny after ignoring her for four years, and we'd know why Harry named his son Albus Severus after one pretty much ruined his childhood, and the other went out of his way to make his adolescence a nightmare.

Well garsdal, no one ever accused Rowling of good character development for the light side.
