Not really. It looks epic yes, but looking epic isn't enough to defy logic. If he caps him on the head with the gun, it's instant death. I don't really see how he can react whatsoever.

Er, look where Adachi is aimin at right now. A bullet there won't kill Souji immediately, and he can cut Adachi.

If Adachi were to aim at his head, Souji would definitely notice it, especially if you consider just when in the story they fight each other. By that point, his reflexes are bound to be almost instant...
