I like to think of them as the same creature.

I mean think about it:

The one on the left clearly has mobility (vine walking and the like) and looks considerably younger. This could be her "seedling" phase.

The way I see it, she "walks" around until she finds a decent patch of soil near a large concentration of human males. Give her a couple of years and a few suitors and BAM! You have the sexy photosynthesizing seductress on the right
