As much as I like Momo and I do, I always found it odd how she stole the main girl status from her own sister.

I don't. She's far more interesting. The whole naive girl thing is boring, after a while.
Also, Darkness is mostly about Momo in the first chapters only, really, then the focus shifts to the whole cast of characters, especially Mikan, Nana and Golden Darkness, to go back to Momo only in the very last chapters.
