I don't have a problem with the changes to Mythra's outfit (she still looks really good like this), but I do find it bizarre that they happened at all. Since the original design has been released internationally for quite a while now, what's really been accomplished?

It was most likely done because of the Japanese game rating board, the CERO, sort of similar to the US' ESRB and the EU's PEGI. Nintendo probably wanted the CERO A (equivalent of the ESRB's E for Everyone) as opposed to whatever it is they use for Teen rated games.

He could have just ignored them, but he didn't, because he cares more about money than integrity. It's not like kids don't buy M rated games anyway, and he's worried about the rating being upped to CERO B even though the series used to be rated T in the west.
