Easy, keep the weapon for a while then dispose it further away. No point of leaving your weapon there if they could trace it back to you.

Think something that could wash it away, like a river.

As for the body...I dunno, just leave it there. Would have been better if he did it somewhere more private though. (I'm thinking motels...)
