In the off-chance someone wants to put up a translation of that text below Shantotto...

I think it ought to read "O-HoHoHoHo", but the two little quotation-looking things between each "Ho" indicates they're supposed to be pronounced "Bo"...

... Except Shantotto explicitly laughs in that "O-HoHoHoHo" way... And it's spelled "O-BoBoBoBo", WHY?

It doesn't change it to "Bo".
Rather the indication is a "tsu" and having it small like that elongates the sound it proceeds.

So it's more, "Oh~ HO~ HO~ HO~ HO~"
