Well, first off, Pikachu died because Misty killed "him/her/it" in a jealous rage.

As see, Ash did not have interest enough in Misty for two reasons.
* Misty did not have a nice enough ass for Ash (Ash is, above all, an assman)
* Misty was human. In order for Ash's gears to be turned by a girl, that girl needs to not be a human--more specifically... that girl needs to be a pokemon.

Why do you think Ash has never owned a Mawile, Gardevior, Blaziken (to my knowledge), Lopunny, Jynx, female Machamp, or Mismagius? As it would result in all Ash doing as having sex with it--totally having him forget about gym badges (this is why Lati@s worked as a movie Pokemon--a form of summer romance for Ash).

Here, Misty knows how silly she has been, for chasing after something that does not even see her as a potential mate. And yet--she just cannot get rid of her feelings for the guy. In their full on Tsundere form.

I mean--if this was how the show worked, you could almost clearly expect Misty to try a stunt of dressing up like a Pokemon to try to get Ash' interest in her.
